LLK Style: Capsule Wardrobe
Blogger: Erica Triplett
Hi! I'm Erica!
I live in farm country in Maryland with my husband and daughter Claire (6). I grew up with a mom who was an excellent sewist, but I didn't catch the "fever" until about 2 1/2 years ago when I was bound and determined to turn all those beautiful fabrics into creations for my dress-loving daughter!
I was having a hard time with paper patterns until a friend introduced me to Little Lizard King, and I was hooked! I've been testing for them for the last year and a half and it has been a dream come true!
I've been wanting to make a small capsule wardrobe for some time, and the recent new releases gave me the excuse to do a little mix and max to expand the outfit options.
First came Raleigh and Beaufort, in a solid Kona cotton and my favorite strawberry print (from Walmart). The picot bias trim on the shorts (from Fabric, Laces, and Trims) gave them the perfect finishing touch! This whole outfit screamed summer and I knew these fabrics would help me bring my vintage summer vision to life!
Then I used the Riley Blake’s Seaside Collection (from Ziggie Lane) to create the Brea set. We found a creek, since traveling down to the sailboats in Annapolis was not an option right now, and captured the breezy joy of summer on the water.
Reversing Raleigh to the solid red paired perfectly with the Brea shorts, as did the solid Beaufort shorts with the Brea top. Bam!
Mini capsule created! I love the way all of Little Lizard King's patterns complement each other so well! Now go make your own mini capsule to share with us!
