Animazing Sew-A-Long Day 1

Happy Monday everyone! My name is Heidi and I am a member of the Admin team here with Little Lizard King. When we were discussing having an Animazing sew along a few months ago, I knew that I wanted to lead it. Animazing is one of my favorite patterns (and also one of the biggest sellers in my boutique) because it is so versatile. It can be worn as a pinafore over a dress, as a simple skirt without the suspenders, or it can be a super cute themed suspender skirt with a face. Did you know that the original pattern comes with inseam pockets and pattern pieces to make a cat, dog, mouse, bear, bunny, and fox?! We also have a ton of add on packs that include Santa, elf, reindeer, penguin, snowman, turkey, unicorn, cow, owl, bug, frankenstein, ghost, candy corn, witch, jack o lantern, and scary cat. Clearly the options are endless!

The first thing that you need to do today is decide which kind of Animazing you are going to make. This will help you narrow down your fabric choices. I decided to make the turkey because I just finished up my Halloween Animazings and I am gearing up for Christmas, but I haven’t made anything for my daughter to wear for Thanksgiving. This will be perfect!

After you have decided which one you’re going to make, choose your fabrics and print your pattern. If you are making a simple animazing without a face you will not have any pattern pieces. I have decided to use lots of different fabrics for mine, but you can choose to just use one or two. {Thanks so much to Michael Miller Fabrics for providing the fabric for this sew along!}

Congrats! You are finished with day 1. Wasn’t that easy?! Tomorrow we will be cutting out our fabrics and I will provide measurements for you if you are going to insert elastic into the back of your skirt instead of making a placket. I can’t wait to see what you all create. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Be sure to upload at least one progress picture and one final picture into the albums in the Facebook group to be eligible to win the 5 pattern pack giveaway!
